Quick gift

A Lazy Girl Bag makes a great quick gift especially if you fill it.

I was invited to a friend’s house for dinner tonight and knew that there would be another guest, so I sewed up these Lazy Girl bags to bring instead of flowers or candy. What woman doesn’t need lots of bags to organize all her stuff? I’d make hundreds more to get such a good home-cooked dinner as I enjoyed tonight – and an evening of great conversation.

And at noon today I had a yummy lunch with my good friend, Brenda. What a great day!

Tub of Fabric

A year ago or so, my friend Christine gave me a tub of fabric she no longer wanted. She had, at one time, thought she would try quilting as a hobby, but it never happened and she decided to give her collected fabric to me.
Right away I decided that I would eventually try to make a quilt for her using some of the fabrics. Since there was a wide variety of patterns and colors, I decided to make a crazy nine-patch and used her preferred color of purple as the sashing and borders. The back of the quilt, not pictured, was pieced using the leftover scraps.

In the tub, at the bottom, I found some Christmas fabrics which I turned into two pillow cases and…..

a table runner with six napkins.

Finally, I used the last of the fabrics (some colorful fat quarters) to make a large tote bag.

At last, it was nearing Christine’s birthday, and I could surprise her with her tub of fabric returned to her in a different form. Happy Birthday Christine!

Gifts

Right before I retired, my friend Brenda gave me this Vera Bradley lunch bag. Little did she know that I would use this lunch bag all the time even though I eat lunch at home every day. The bag is perfect to carry in the car to keep my Diet Coke cold. Even on the hottest days, I put my pop between the ice packs in the bag and it stays deliciously cold in spite of the fact that the car is an oven. It is so nice to go shopping, return to the car, quickly turn on the A/C, and reach for my perfectly chilled can of DC.

Thanks again, Brenda!
